I’ve been waiting for new Salamanders content, so I picked up the Warforged Strike Force Battleforce from January 2023 to unbox on camera. It’s a solid box with a good mix of units and some nice Salamanders-specific bits. Here’s what’s inside.
What’s Inside the Box?
The Salamanders Warforged Strike Force was released as a Battleforce box in January 2023, offering a solid core of a Salamanders army at a discount compared to buying everything separately. - Adrax Agatone — The Salamanders’ Captain of the 3rd Company and one of the Chapter’s most iconic characters. His rules favour aggressive, close-range gameplay which fits the Salamanders’ playstyle perfectly.
- 10x Primaris Intercessors — The versatile backbone of any Space Marine force, armed with bolt rifles. Two full squads give you a solid Troops foundation.
- 3x Aggressors — Heavy infantry armed with flamestorm gauntlets or boltstorm gauntlets. Salamanders love flamers, and Aggressors with flamestorm gauntlets are a thematic dream for the Chapter.
- 3x Eradicators — Anti-armour specialists with melta rifles. Combined with the Salamanders’ Chapter Tactic (which lets you re-roll one wound roll per unit), these become devastatingly efficient tank hunters.
- Salamanders Upgrade Sprues — Exclusive shoulder pads, heads, and accessories to give your Space Marines that distinct Salamanders look with drake-scale cloaks and forge-inspired details.
Is This Box Good Value?
At the time of release, the Warforged Strike Force offered roughly 30-40% savings over buying each kit individually — which is typical for Battleforce boxes. The contents are well-balanced for starting or expanding a Salamanders army, with a named character, two Troops choices, and two strong support units.
The inclusion of upgrade sprues is a nice touch that you don’t always get in Battleforce boxes. They really help the army look cohesive on the tabletop, especially the Salamanders-specific shoulder pads and drake-themed helmets.
Who Is This Box For?
This Battleforce is ideal for anyone starting a Salamanders army or looking to add a solid core to an existing collection. It’s also a great box for hobbyists who enjoy painting — Salamanders’ green armour with black and gold details is a striking scheme, and having a character model like Adrax Agatone gives you a centrepiece to work on.
If you can still find this box at retail price, it remains one of the better Warhammer 40k box sets for starting a themed Space Marine army.
