In this video, I unbox Kill Team: Blood and Zeal, the narrative Kill Team expansion that pits Khorne cultists against Ecclesiarchal zealots on the war-torn world of Volkus. Here’s everything in the box.

What’s in the Box?

Kill Team: Blood and Zeal is a narrative expansion box that pits two thematic kill teams against each other on the war-torn world of Volkus. Here’s everything inside:

The Goremongers

The Goremongers are a warband of Khorne-devoted Chaos Space Marines, driven by an insatiable thirst for blood and skulls. The multipart plastic kit lets you build a full kill team of frenzied warriors, including:

  • Blood Herald — The warband’s leader, a terrifying champion of Khorne draped in trophies and wielding brutal close-combat weapons
  • Skullclaimer — A specialist killer whose role is to claim worthy skulls for the Blood God’s throne
  • Several Goremonger fighters with various loadout options

The sculpts lean heavily into Khorne’s aesthetic — chainaxes, skull motifs, blood-soaked armour, and the raw fury you’d expect from the Blood God’s chosen.

The Sanctifiers

On the other side, the Sanctifiers are fanatical servants of the Imperial Creed — zealots who fight with the fire of absolute faith. This kill team draws from the Ecclesiarchy’s most extreme warriors:

  • Confessor — A fire-and-brimstone preacher who inspires (and terrifies) those around him into acts of devotion
  • Death Cult Assassin — A silent killer whose blade work is offered as prayer to the Emperor
  • A mix of zealous fighters armed with a variety of melee and ranged weapons

The Sanctifiers are a fantastic representation of the Imperium’s religious extremism — all flowing robes, holy icons, and the conviction that dying for the Emperor is the highest honour.

Terrain and Rules

The box also includes a Shrine Statue terrain piece — a large, detailed centrepiece that sets the scene for battles on Volkus. It provides both line-of-sight blocking and thematic atmosphere for your Kill Team games.

The Blood and Zeal Dossier contains full rules for both kill teams, datacards, narrative missions, and background lore on the conflict. The missions are designed to tell a story across multiple games, which is one of Kill Team’s strongest features.

Is It Worth It?

Kill Team: Blood and Zeal is one of the stronger narrative expansion boxes, and a welcome addition to Games Workshop’s growing catalogue of Warhammer 40k box sets. Both kill teams have distinct playstyles — the Goremongers favour raw aggression while the Sanctifiers balance fanatical melee with more tactical options. The terrain piece adds real value, and the dossier’s narrative campaign gives you a reason to play through multiple games. If you enjoy Kill Team or want two unique warbands for skirmish gaming, this box delivers.
